That was at least 4-5 years ago, so I really can't remember as I didn't follow rugby league at the time.

When I was snowboarding recently I tried to employ some wc concepts into it. It worked pretty well, although I still feel over far too many times onto hard ice. Main one was contracting when I was going to do a turn. It made it more of a solid turn and not so shaky.

Maybe next season I will get a better go at combining the two.

Would you include other martial arts in that? Say boxing, kickboxing or ***ppling? Because I would...

yes. anything done at its highest level seems to have that same element. then all that separates it is how it is used, in the case of martial arts, tactics and theorys of how it is applied.

Before I did Martial arts I did heaps of white Water Kayaking, and before I did WC I did bare back and saddle bronc rideing also steer wrestleing.
when exposed to WC I was freaked out by how much undrestanding there was in WC of correct body movement and allignment that crossed over into the other (seemingly different) activities.
the other Martial Arts I had been exposed to did not have this.
I wish i had done WC first then i would have been better at the other sports.

I also think you can use WC principles in combat sports, even when the rules limit you to techiques that some might consider to be not "pure" or "traditional" WC. after all hitting someone is just hitting someone in any arrena

One of the main reasons i started wing chun was to develop my Chi to help in my chosen sport Gridiron (American Football) i was delighted the first time we learnt how to sink our weight into a push/strike (double palm strike) being a lineman that is exactly what i was looking for. Unfortunatly i have now chosen WC over gridiron, but maybe i will go back and give it a try some day

Default Shaolin Soccer

a good example of all of this is a comedy i watched recently called shaolin soccer. I didnt have subtitles and cannot speak mandarin so i am not entirely sure of the plot - but from what i can gather the main character got kicked out of the shaolin temple and met up with some other of his old kung fu buddies and created a soccer team using their kung fu skills. it is quite humourous and i would recomend it to everyone. it was a good watch.

Ooh this may or may not be the same movie but I saw the trailer about a film like it a couple of years ago. There were these men (who may or may not ave been in robes) who were jumping in the air and doing backflips kicking the ball and it would like burn through the net :P I wish I had gotten round to seeing it.

I have tried doing Wingchun in Waterpolo before, using my elbow to throw the ball further... I found it difficult though because you have to constantly be treading water, so naturally it was hard to be in the stance.

*two cent input*
