Robert Ardito
Head Instructor Robert Ardito has been training in Wing Chun since 1983. Prior to this he trained in various other martial arts and boxing before meeting an elderly Chinese man who defeated him in some friendly sparring using Wing Chun. Impressed by the simplicity and effectiveness of the style, Inst. Robert began looking for a school which taught traditional Wing Chun.
He signed on at the Manly Vale branch of the International Wing Chun Academy, later moving to the Sydney City HQ to learn under Sifu Jim Fung. He opened his own school, the Shiu Lung Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy, in 2004. Inst. Robert says he continues to learn new skills each time he trains and is constantly improving.
He says: “Wing Chun has given me the ability to defend myself with confidence. Wing Chun is simple in its design but is complex enough to constantly provide me with challenges.
“I have been able to use my Wing Chun ability to even break a world record! Currently I hold the Guinness Book of Records World Record for Most Number of Martial Arts Punches in One Minute with 702*** punches.
“I would never have been able to achieve this amazing feat without the relaxation techniques learnt in Wing Chun and the inspiration of Sifu Jim Fung as my teacher.”
*** Instructor Robert has since improved his World Record to 805 punches per minute. See the full article here
