Overseas Study at the International Wing Chun Academy in Australia

Over the past ten years, students from throughout the world have travelled to Australia to attend the International Wing Chun Academy's internationally known full-time courses specialising in Wing Chun Kung Fu. Some of our students' countries of origin include Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain and the Czech Republic.

There are a number of reasons why our students travel so far to do these courses.

Firstly, it was the first government approved martial arts course in Australia, and one of the few anywhere in which students are eligible for work and study visas while attending.

Secondly, and most importantly, the knowledge to be gained while training in Grandmaster Jim Fung's Wing Chun Kung Fu system. Grandmaster Fung was for more than 40 years a student of Great Grandmaster Tsui Seung Tin, chairman of the Hong Kong Wing Chun Athletic Association and the world's foremost authority on Wing Chun.

Attending this course offers students the chance to see at first-hand a very successful martial arts school in operation. This experience is invaluable to anybody interested in pursuing a career in martial arts instruction.

Students also have the chance to improve their English and enjoy the experience of living in Australia. Our three state centres all have central city locations close to renowned tourist attractions such as the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour and Surfers' Paradise.

As stated earlier, students are eligible to apply for part-time work visas while studying at the Academy, and may transfer from one campus to another to complete the course eg. from Sydney to Gold Coast or Adelaide campus This is subject to DIAC and CRICOS approval and satisfying student visa conditions regarding changes to visa (an additional administration fee applies).
